While preparing to travel either locally or abroad is essential you get all your relevant documents both the original and copies set in a safe and secure place before your traveling date and to help reduce the packing stress or missing of some important documents.
see below the top documents to travel with;
- Visa Tickets
- Passport
- Means of identification
- Prove of accommodation or Hotel booking
- Copies of all the Identification documents
- Travel Insurance plan details
- New bank account or Forex card
Tickets: Depending on type of visa you have, air tickets or a ticket for other
modes of transportation are needed. A confirmed ticket and return air ticket is
a necessary document to apply for a tourist visa and a few other visas. So
check if there is an option for buying a refundable cancellable flight ticket,
just in case you can’t make it.
Visa: When going to another country, having a Visa is one of the most important
documents to have. The type of visa you have or want. There are countries that
grant visa-on-arrival for tourists. So, check if the country you are planning
to visit has visa-on-entry for your passport. If not, apply for a tourist visa
for that country. For students or others that are migrating then you need to
apply for a visa before going, and please apply for it at least two months
before.
Passport: For any international travel, a passport is always required. If at
the time of travel, you already have a passport, make sure that it does not
expire within the next 6 months or until you get back. Always carry a copy of
the passport separately. Keep a copy of the passport at home or with someone.
Other means of identification: Having a passport isn’t Always enough and in
cases of domestic flights, they might not be required so having another means
of identification is best. This could be a driver’s license or whatever is
acceptable in your country and the place you are going to.
Proof of accommodation or Hotel Booking: Most times, with a tourist visa, or
for countries with visa-on-arrival, most of the countries ask for accommodation
proof at the immigration counter. A copy of the hotel booking or the invitation
of a relative or friend who resides there will be fine.
Travel Insurance plan details: Having insurance is something that should be practical. I can’t imagine getting to a beautiful location far away from home, only to be pulled through the stress of missing luggage’s would be frustrating.
New bank account or Forex card: Having money in the correct currency of the
country you are travelling to helps in many ways. You can avoid the currency
conversion fees abroad. You could buy anything without worrying about
conversation rates.
